a little horsing around

Saturday we traveled out to Hutchinson, MN to photograph Julie and her farrier business. We got to hang out for a couple of hours while Julie and her new employee Jacob worked. It was fascinating! I learned so much about horses’ feet and how they are cared for. Julie is amazing with horses…it was terrific to watch this little lady work firmly and gently and with great confidence with these large animals.

We got to watch a technique called hot-shoeing. The horse doesn’t even feel a thing, but it sure does look cool.
