Saturday was Houa and Dao’s wedding. After getting to know them a little at their engagement session back in May, we knew it was going to be an absolute delight to be a part of this wonderful couple’s wedding day! My morning began at Plia’s Salon where I met Houa as she got her hair done. Towards the end of Houa’s appointment, I got to meet Dao’s parents when they arrived for Dao’s mom’s hair appointment.

Even one of the flower girls was getting in on the getting ready action.

Houa was looking sooooo good!

While we were taking pictures in the park, we ended up with an audience of young people who seemed quite interested in what was going on.

How great was this?!? If you have been following our blog you may remember the pictures with the pigeons that Houa and Dao asked us to take during their engagement session. Dao used to raise pigeons and after their engagement session they thought it would be fun to release homeing pigeons at their wedding!

After the ceremony we stopped by the sculpture gardens for a few wedding party pictures.

Their reception was held at the Profile Event Center in Minneapolis. All morning friends and family came to help set up and decorate the hall…it was beautiful! Houa wanted to have traditional Hmong food served at the reception so their church (Hmong Alliance) did all the catering. The food was wonderful! It was my first time experiencing traditional Hmong cuisine, and I can’t wait to try it again. By the way, when they say the hot sauce is hot…they’re not kidding! Thank goodness there was some extra water available!
